PUBLIC NOTICE Appomattox County received funding from Phase 37 of the Emergency Food & Shelter Program National Board (EFSP). Appomattox County was awarded $5,362 and $4,428 in Phase CARES funds. The award is to be used to supplement and extend emergency food and shelter programs under the Emergency Food & Shelter National Board Program which serve individuals and families residing in the respective jurisdictions. EFSP funds are Federal funds made available through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency. A local board will determine how the funds awarded to the specific jurisdictions are distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in the area. Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local governments or private voluntary organizations chosen to receive funds must be non-profit, have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter services and if they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board. Application deadline is Monday, July 6 2020.
