President Donald Trump's garden recently received a face-lift, and it was Nelson County's own Saunders Brothers Inc. that helped make it happen. Unveiled by first lady Melania Trump on Aug. 22, Saunders Brothers supplied hundreds of boxwood including those from NewGen Boxwood, introduced by Saunders Genetics LLC, to the renovation efforts of the White House Rose Garden.

The Saunders Brothers have provided boxwood as well as consultation services to the White House since 1962 when Paul Saunders, who now manages Saunders Brothers Inc. with his four sons, supplied 1,500 boxwood for first lady Jacqueline Kennedy's Rose Garden initiative.
