Jean Cole Adams, 66, of 416 Ferguson Road, Ringgold, Va., departed this life on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Sovah Health-Danville after a decline in health for the past three years. Jean was born in Danville, Va. on January 10, 1954 a daughter of the late John Letcher Cole and Erma Davis Cole. Jean was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Jean was a loving mother and best friend to Edwin. On January 14, 1972 she married, Edwin Terry Adams Jr., who survives of the residence. Survivors also include two daughter, Terri Ann Adams, Amy A. Nash (Donnie); a son, Bryan Gibson (Tara); a sister, Jackie C. Soyars; and two grandchildren, Cole and Mayzee Gibson. She was predeceased by two brothers, John David Cole and Herbert Tucker Cole. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 2 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel conducted by the Rev. Richard Allen. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. Mrs. Jeanette Shannon Ferguson Fitch, age 78, of Yulee, Fla., passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at her residence. She was born on July 27, 1941, in Danville, Va., to the late Harry S. Ferguson and Katherine Davis Ferguson. Before her retirement, Mrs. Fitch owned and operated Moms Kitchen. She is survived by her husband, Alvis L. Fitch Jr.; children, Donna Fitch White (Brian), Kathy Fitch Fowlkes (Tony), A. Shannon Fitch, and Becky Fitch Powell (George); ten grandchildren; and brother, Harry Ray Ferguson (Shirley). In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fitch was predeceased by her sister, Peggy Ferguson Barker. Jeffery Harrison Bowen, beloved fiancé, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020. Jeff was the son of two incredible and loving parents, Dempse and Sandra Bowen, and was born on October 24, 1967. Jeff graduated from George Washington High School in 1986 and furthered his education at Averett University, obtaining both a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Business Administration in 2014 and 2017 respectively. Jeff was deeply passionate about music, technology, numerous television series, video games, writing, cooking, landscaping and gardening, a life long Star Wars nerd who was obsessed with anything to which he put his mind. Jeff attended Riverview Baptist Church. Jeff was caring, charismatic, vivacious and had an appetite for life that can best be portrayed in one way: how tightly he held you when giving a hug. Jeff is survived by his fiancée, Donna Moss; his sister, Kim Adkerson and her husband, Scott; his sons, Daniel and Dylan Moss; his nephews, Dustin and Drew Marshall; his godchild, Lily Owen; and his beautiful, wrinkly dog, Jadis. In addition, Jeff was predeceased by his father and mother, Dempse and Sandra Bowen; and his son who he loved more than anything in this world, Grant Harrison Bowen. Michael "Mike" Lynn Alderson, 61, of Danville, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020. He was born on March 12, 1958, in Danville, the son of Wade S. Alderson Jr. and Barbara Wright Alderson. Mike was predeceased by his father, mother and one brother, Wade S. Alderson III. He is survived by one sister, Carol Gibbs (Chris); one brother, Randy Alderson (Patti); and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. David Franklin Andrews, age 86, of Danville, Va., passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at SOVAH Health-Danville. He was born on October 16, 1933, in Spray, N.C., to the late Manuel Andrews and Lydia Cheek Andrews. Before his retirement, Mr. Andrews worked as a tire builder for Goodyear Tire and Rubber and was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He served his country in the United States Navy. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Andrews; children, Susan Smith, of Danville, Va., and Carla Corum and her husband, Ronald, of Eden, N.C.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Carter (Tim), Ashley Smith, Christy Evans (Mike), and Bridget French (Bryant); great-grandchildren, James Smith, Cheyene Love, Aaliyah Smith, Robbie Odum, Bailey Redd, Braxton French, and Brystal French; and mother-in-law, Helen Oakes. In addition to his parents, Mr. Andrews was predeceased by six sisters and one brother; daughter, Sharon Evans; son, David Andrews Jr.; and granddaughter, Kimberly Evans. Mr. Myron Dean Amos, age 62, of Pelham, N.C., passed away on January 28, 2020, at Duke University Medical Center, in Durham, N.C. Mr. Amos was born on May 20, 1957, in Danville, Va., to the late Frederick Arlen Amos and Nellie Tate Amos who survives. He was married to Donna Jones Amos who survives. He worked as a cable builder at Times Fiber Co. and was a member of State Line Baptist Church, he was also a member of American Legion Post 1097 SAL. In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Amos is survived by his children, Jonathan Tyler Amos (Amanda), Jacob Arlen Amos (Courtney), and Jacqueline Amos Aldridge (Tyler); grandchildren, Jonathan Tyler Amos Jr., Asher Paul Aldridge, and Emory Jude Aldridge; and brothers, Freddie Amos and Steven Amos. Robert Wallace Austin Jr., peacefully departed this life for his home with God after the rapid progression of Alzheimer's Disease, on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. Mr. Austin was born on November 15, 1946, in Danville, Va., to the late Robert W. Austin Sr. and Irene H. Austin. R.W. graduated from Tunstall High School and then furthered his education obtaining a Bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech and a Masters degree from the University of Virginia. He served in the Virginia Army National Guard for 12 years. R.W. was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where he served in many compacities and helped organize and start the Back Pack Ministry; he loved his church and was a faithful member. He had a 33-year career in the Pittsylvania County School system where he served as a teacher at Blairs Jr. High, Tunstall High School, Assistant Principal at Tunstall High School, and Director of Vocational Instruction for Pittsylvania County Schools. R.W. loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with Jason, Lucinda, Addi, and Henry. He had many hobbies, hunting, fishing, beach trips, and mountain trips. He also enjoyed helping others and working with his students. R.W. is survived by his wife of 47 years, Emma F. Austin; son, Jason R. Austin and his wife, Lucinda L. Austin; two adored grandchildren, Addilyn and Henry Austin; brothers, Barry Steve Austin (Judy), Phillip Duane Austin (Dyan); sister-in-law, Gena F. Allen (John); brother-in-law, Peter G. Fisackerly (Pam); and several nieces and nephews. Garland C. Grant of Dry Fork, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at the age of 90. He was born on June 1, 1929, to the late Nannie Elliott Grant and the late Charlie W. Grant in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Billie Alford Grant. Garland was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, where he also taught Sunday school. He collected cigarette lighters, of which he had more than 400. He was the owner and operator of Grant's Store, and he was a graduate of Whitmell Farm Life School. Garland also served as a Corporal in the United States Military for two years during the Korean War. In addition to his wife, Garland is survived by his daughter, Julie Anne Dean (Jeffrey) of Newnan, Georgia; his son, Joseph Elliott Grant (Angie) of Rolesville, North Carolina; and his grandchildren, Anna Dean, Katie Dean, Winston Grant, and Lilly Grant. He was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers.
