A back-to-school community event sponsored by evangelist Joy Harper, with Break Chainz Resurrection Outreach Ministry in Washington D.C., was held at the Danville Boys & Girls Club on Thursday afternoon. About 40-50 youths with the club attended the event. Free backpacks and school supplies were donated by William Jones II, founder and owner of TRC Roofing and Construction of Greensboro, N.C. Lou Williamson of Lou's Barbershop offered free haircuts to the boys, and Rodney McDuffie of South Carolina, a national recording artist, sponsored music for the event. The kids also got to enjoy cake and hear speeches from Jones, Williams, and McDuffie about how they achieved their goals and became successful. Rapper Daric Whitehead performed Christian-themed rap songs for the youths.
