To the editor:

I am writing to give my endorsement for Jacob Hancock who is running for the Callands/Gretna seat on the Pittsylvania County School Board. I hope that he can count on your vote.

Jacob is just what is needed on the school board. He is a God-fearing and uncompromising patriot. Jacob is willing to stand up for the constitutionally protected rights of children and their parents. He will stand to protect parental rights, when the state has clearly indicated that they do not believe parents should have those rights.

Jacob will stand against tools that woke politicians will use to introduce chaos, division and confusion to children. He understands what it will take and he is willing to listen to the parents and families of our county.

Jacob wants to encourage everyone to be involved in and learn more about America’s education system.

Jacob has years of experience working in higher education and he works directly with public school students in our county. He also works as an assistant electrical instructor/lab tech at Virginia Technical Institute.

Jacob is more than qualified for the job and I hope he can count on your vote. Go and vote early!

Jared Austin, Dry Fork

I have known Jacob Hancock for his entire life. He always has cared about the best interests of the community. I remember as a child he would go with his parents to local meetings about community concerns and issues. I also remember him campaigning for or against issues that were important in Pittsylvania county and surrounding areas. I also remember him campaigning for conservative candidates as a child.

The decision on who should be the next supervisor of the Dan River District should be based on a record of results. Results that have brought increased funding to volunteer agencies, new jobs to Cane Creek and Ringgold Industrial Parks and has negotiated to bring internet to every unserved home in Pittsylvania County. The citizens of the Dan River District should vote Joe Davis for Supervisor.

I would like to respond to the letter, “Not all scientists would agree with this,” by Mr. Rick Markham (Sept. 23) where he critiqued my Aug. 31 letter, “Transgender ‘divide’ not about any god,’’ which was my response to Mr. Daryl Rigney’s Aug. 13 letter, “Transgender move divides our country.”

Let’s show Danville’s children we care. We, the seven members of the Danville School Board, urge you to vote yes to both referendum items on Nov. 2. These items include a 1% sales tax that funds only building improvements and a bond authorization that could amount to around $141 million that allows us to do the work now, at today's construction prices. The tax ends when the bond is paid.
