Averett University President Dr. Tatia Daniels Granger has appointed Dr. Kelli Palmer as senior advisor. Palmer will work primarily from the President’s Office.
Palmer holds a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Virginia, where her early career included work in the Office of the President supporting institutional strategy under two university presidents.
Currently, Palmer serves as the nonprofit executive in residence at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. At Darden, she serves as advisor, mentor and connector for the Golub Capital Board Fellows Program. She is also the founder and principal of IDEA Minds Consulting, where she advises on enterprise leadership, operations, organizational strategy and performance in complex environments.
Palmer will work with Granger to take a clear, current look at how Averett is organized. This will focus on what Averett’s departments do, how responsibilities are currently distributed and where structure and resources are best aligned to support the everyday work of the university.
“Kelli brings a rare combination of higher education and organizational leadership experience, including senior human capital and culture roles in the corporate sector and current service on university boards,” Granger said. “She will help in understanding where we stand today, together, so the decisions we make going forward are grounded in insights about what we need to do rather than solely in assumptions from the past.”
Palmer is a graduate of Elon University and received her master’s degree from Wake Forest University. Along with her doctorate from the University of Virginia, she has done post-graduate work at Boston College, Harvard and Penn.
