The Danville Office of Economic Development & Tourism (DOEDT), in partnership with GENEDGE, will host an OSHA 30 General Industry Safety and Health Training series beginning May 27. The four-part program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize, evaluate and control workplace hazards in accordance with OSHA’s general industry standards.
Delivered across four full-day sessions, attendees will learn practical strategies to prevent injuries, strengthen safety culture and promote proactive hazard awareness across industries.
Training dates include May 27, June 3, June 7 and June 17, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. This series will be held in person at the Danville Office of Economic Development & Tourism, 420 Memorial Drive, Danville, Virginia. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Kelvin Perry, assistant director of DOEDT, emphasized the value of the program for local employers. “We are constantly seeking ways for our businesses and industries to improve their skills and policies,” Perry said. “This training provides a conducive environment for learning and growth, while creating opportunities for meaningful discussions with other industry professionals.”
Designed for individuals with responsibility for workplace safety, the program emphasizes leadership, regulatory compliance and real-world application. Topics include worker protections, recordkeeping, electrical safety, machine guarding, hazard communication, bloodborne pathogens, heat stress and more.
An OSHA 30-hour general industry completion card will be issued by the U.S. Department of Labor.
