On July 27, the SAO Consortium, which includes Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area, traveled to Salisbury, North Carolina, to Livingstone College and Catawba College. Twenty students and seven chaperones toured the campuses, which included the chapels, radio/podcasts, admissions, Divine Nine Yard, academic buildings and environmental areas. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area, Salvation Army, Community and Church Based Tutorial and Boys and Girls Club took a trip to Washington, D.C., in 2024. There were 51 in total — 17 from Big Brothers Big Sisters — who visited Washington. Everyone visited Blackburn Hall at Howard University to see the School of Social Work where they learned about admissions, financial aid and school programs. Later, they went on a riding tour of Washington and ate dinner at Ben’s Chili Bowl where they met the owner, Virginia Ali. The next day, they ate breakfast at the hotel, and toured the sights: the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and the African American Museum of Art.
