After a nationwide search was conducted with applicants from as far away as Washington state, Pennsylvania, and Mississippi, the Danville Police Department is pleased to announce the promotion of Paul Totten to the position of warden of the City of Danville Adult Detention Center (ADC). Warden Totten was pinned with his new badge during a ceremony on Monday, September 14, at 1 Community Way. Bringing 27 years of correctional and detention management experience, Warden Totten most recently served as a correctional captain at the Adult Detention Center.
Effective September 16, Warden Totten assumes leadership of the Adult Detention Center.
“For the selection process, we identified several qualities that were important in the next warden. We wanted someone who would lead from the front and set a strong example. It is important that the new warden understand modern corrections and recognize the importance of best practice and be innovative and comfortable with technology. The best candidate would effectively lead, develop, and ensure accountability for ADC’s standards and policies while also being open to evaluating existing practices and making improvements when necessary,” said Danville Police Chief Chris Wiles.
Warden Totten will oversee all detention operations and continue to promote a safe, secure, and professionally managed facility for both staff and inmates.
