Danville Utilities will host two public informational meetings this month to share important updates, programs, and resources designed to help customers better understand their utility services and manage energy costs.
The meetings will be held:
- Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m. at Camp Grove Recreation Center, 119 Bradley Road.
- Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m. at Ballou Recreation Center, 760 West Main St.
"We want customers to understand how their bills are calculated and what tools are available to help manage energy use," Danville Utilities Director Jason Grey said Monday. "There’s a common misconception that utilities benefit when customers use more electricity. In reality, higher consumption increases demand charges, which drives up costs for the utility system. These meetings are about transparency and helping our customers make informed decisions."

During the sessions, Danville Utilities staff will provide information on a range of topics, including:
- The Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) and how it impacts bills.
- Energy assessments and assistance programs.
- The Neighbors Helping Neighbors initiative.
- Other relevant utility updates and services.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with staff. In addition, customers are encouraged to submit feedback through a public comment section available on the Danville Utilities website.
New heat pump replacement program
Danville Utilities is also launching a new heat pump replacement program aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing utility costs for qualifying customers.
Several hundred customers identified as having higher-than-average electrical usage during the winter months will receive letters this week with information about the program.
Program highlights include:
- Professional installation: Customers will receive a new, energy-efficient heat pump, properly sized for their home and installed by a licensed, vetted contractor. Homes without existing duct work will have it included as part of the installation.
- Additional insulation: Installation of insulation in floors, attics, or crawlspaces, as needed, to improve overall energy efficiency.
- Significant cost savings: Customers pay just 25% of the total cost, with Danville Utilities covering the remaining 75%. Customers will work directly with approved contractors, with payments made directly to the contractor.
"This program is designed to make a meaningful difference for customers by improving home efficiency and lowering long-term energy costs," said Danville Utilities officials.
